The essentials
A fee registration. Not a compliance certificate.
The ICO is the UK's data protection regulator. Certain organizations that process personal information as controllers must pay its data protection fee, unless an exemption applies.
An annual obligation
The fee is generally renewed every 12 months. Changes in your organization or eligibility can affect the next assessment.
A Separate Responsibility
Article 27 Representation and the ICO Fee are different requirements. It is possible to be required to have one or both.
Registration does not mean the ICO has audited, approved or certified your GDPR compliance. Exemption from the fee does not remove other data protection obligations.

The ICO publishes selected registration information so people can identify fee payers and check their details. It does not publish every answer supplied during registration.
Details that may appear
- Controller name, registered address and trading names
- Registration reference, fee tier and payment/expiry dates
- DPO contact information; an individual DPO's name when they consent
GPR correspondence-address service
Eligible customers can use GPR's managed correspondence address where accepted by the ICO. Your real legal identity and business address remain separately recorded. This is not an anonymity guarantee and may not replace an address the regulator requires.

This service is only for existing Global Privacy Reps customers with qualifying UK coverage, including UK Only, EU + UK and eligible UK-inclusive multi-Hub plans. EU-only and App-only plans do not qualify by themselves.
A completed SmartRoPA™, representative appointment or executed customer Mandate is not a prerequisite for ICO intake. Actual account eligibility remains server-controlled; seeing these cards does not establish eligibility.

Choose your ICO service plan
ICO Registration & Renewal is a separate annual service from your Article 27 representation. Select the tier that fits your organization. GPR will verify the applicable ICO fee before filing.
Complete your registration profile
After you subscribe, sign in to your GPR account and complete your ICO Registration Profile. You can save your progress and return when convenient.
We review and manage the process
Our team reviews your information, confirms the applicable statutory fee, and contacts you if anything needs clarification. Once the required details and payment are verified, GPR handles the registration process and makes available registration documents accessible through your account.
We handle your annual renewal
Fourteen days before your annual GPR subscription renewal, we'll email you to confirm that your ICO registration details are still up to date. You can review or update your information securely in your GPR account. Once your information and payment are verified, we'll manage the official ICO renewal before its deadline.
If we need additional information or payment clarification, we'll contact you before proceeding with your registration.
